How does my uncle get his citizenship papers back after he got out of prison?

Well, my unlce served 10 years in prison, after he finished off his time they took his Citizenship papers away from him. Since he does not know much about legal stuff or read that well as to understand a legal contract, he signed a contract giving off his Citizenship for life at the INS dept! They deported him and they told him that if they ever find him here they were going to fine him with 5 more years in prison. Another question is why would they do that toa Citizen??? HELP...I need a lawyer.

  1. He wasn't a citizen. If he was, they couldn't do it. He must have simply had temporary standing pending citizenship hearing and naturalization. If he didn't go through the naturalization ceremony, he wasn't a citizen. To lose citizenship, you must renounce your US citizenship. If he did THAT, he's not getting it back. Sorry. 2. inorder to get a green card or working papers the law clearly states the applicant can not be a convited ciminal in any country. Therefore, when he was convivted and sent to prison he gave up the ability to ever be in the US legally again. The US lets enough people in legally that want to be here that we do not need criminals. Sorry but he is out of luck and so are you trying to help him.
  3. You need to tell us more. Where was he originally from? Did he get citizenship because of marriage. Tell more.
  4. The key there was serving 10 years in prison.... Does not sound like someone that our country wants to have living in it. AND, he signed his rights away. No way to get it back.
