Citizenship?
I was born on the 26th of January year 1980 in Naples Italy with both Filipino parents. After a year my mother brought me to the Philippines and I was adopted by my immediate relative and was naturalized as a Filipino only to find out after 25 years the truth about my citizenship. I had in my possession all the necessary documents pertaining to my Italian citizenship. I had my birth as well as my baptismal certificate and a certification from national illnesses insurance institute. I want to know if it is possible for me to acquire back my Italian citizenship or to have a dual citizenship. Can you please send me the information on how I should process my application and all the requirements that I need to submit and the time frame of the said process. Your consideration will be greatly appreciated.

- I'm sorry, but birth in Italy does not confer Italian citizenship, unless you were born of unknown parents or unless you lived there legally and uninterruptedly until age 18.
- Howdy, It doesn't look like you got Italian citizenship just because you were born there. Also, considering both your parents are Filipino - and were apparently not Italian citizens - that removes another path for you to regain Italian citizenship. However, I did find a link which stated that you could request Italian citizenship if you were born in Italy and are over 21 years old. Don't know if that applies to you or not. However, your best bet is probably to contact the Italian Embassy in the Philipines (see the link) - or whatever country you're living in (if you're not in the Philipines - see the last link).. good luck to you.
- Your citizenship is Italian because you were born in Italy. You did not lose it considering that you are still registered as a citizen in Italy.
