- A baby born to a parent who is a German citizen, at the time of birth, has the right to be a German citizen. As a part of the USA naturalization ceremony, you have to renounce all allegiance to any foreign state of which you have been citizen (Oath of allegiance).
- check out this website: http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/de/Infoservice/FAQ/GeburtAusland/Uebersicht.html Your kid is lucky, she can keep dual citizenship. If you want to have dual nationality you will have to apply for keeping your German citizenship and wait for the decision before you acquire US citizenship. Unless you get an extra permit in advance you will automatically lose your German citizenship upon getting the US one. http://www.auswandern-aktuell.de/beratungsdienst/beratung/zweitpass0.html http://bundesrecht.juris.de/rustag/__25.html
- You daughter can acquire dual citizenship luckily enough but I believe it is up to a certain age she can make that declaration.
