What happens if you file for citizenship and then get married to a US resident?
I filed for citizenship in December, 2009. I already went to the fingerprinting appointment. I want to marry my girlfriend. She is a green card holder but has not filed for citizenship yet (even though she could also file) . Can I marry her now or should I wait until I become a citizen? Thank you.

- Nothing happens. It makes no difference.
- DON'T MAKE ANY DIFFRENCE...CULD HAVE MADE HUGE DIFFRENCE IF SHE WAS A CITIZEN{NEW IMMIGRATION LAWS }MY FRIEND IS IN JAIL,HE CAM ON GREENCARD AND APPLIED FOR CITIZENSHIP BUT DUE TO IT WAS TAKING TIME HIS DUMB ASS MARRIED HIS GURL WHO WAS A CITIZEN AND NOW BOTH ARE UNDER QUESTIONING....BUT UR CASE CHILL OUT ....NO PROBLEMA
- It makes no difference other than the fact that when you go for your Interview and you're already married, you just have to be sure to tell the Officer that your marital status has changed since you filled out the application. She will make a note of it and................uh, nothing else will happen.
