What is the purpose of having dual citizenship?
Simon Baker of "The Mentalist" recently said he is considering applying for US citizenship, but does not intend to give up his Australian citizenship. Why would somebody want to have dual citizenship?

- To avoid having to get a Visa every time they travel to the country they originally did not have citizenship in.
- He would do that so he doesn't have to get visas for working in the US and traveling between the US and Australia. Once a visa is granted it will be easier and less paperwork to go through.
- I'm a dual citizen which enables me to enter either of my citizenship countries (Australia and the USA) without a visa and stay as long as I like and I can work if I wish to do so. And believe me, entering the USA as a citizen is MUCH, MUCH faster and more pleasant than if you're from anywhere else - I've done it both ways and can speak from experience.
